NECRONOMICON - Fact or Fantasy?
The Mardukite NecroGate - NecroGate.com
Perhaps the greatest debate among the new age and literary community concerning the NECRONOMICON is the issue of its “authenticity.” This is a semantics argument that really has become a stumbling block for what has evolved to become an entire genre of true and verifiable methods of “Necronomicon Gnosis.” This issue is raised in the introduction to NINE GATES OF THE KINGDOM OF SHADOWS, edited by Joshua Free, also known as Liber 9 and the text from these tablets is now available in our NECRONOMICON - ANUNNAKI BIBLE. “The writings of H.P. Lovecraft prompted a new face of the consciousness of the mystical movement (one obviously enshrouded in the freedom gained in fiction what some less artistic and creative occultists would only dream of attaining in their plethora of undertakings) but it was alluding to something that many misunderstood – as was undoubtedly the intention of the intelligences that prompted his visions. Too many folk have come and gone preaching their opposition to the “Necronomicon” – a title that may very well have been the absolute creation of Lovecraft (as this editor has never resolved to debate on that issue), even if by his own admission, for the sole purpose of amusement. To what end does this discredit the role taken in merely giving to the idea a name – to be the neo-biblical Adam of this generation, completely innocent in the undertaking of giving trivial names to the beasts and images encountered.“ ![]() The Mardukite NecroGate - NecroGate.com |

RE: NECRONOMICON - Fact or Fantasy?
The title and semantics of a Cthulhu-mythos perhaps. What most have come to see in it is far from a "fantasy" however. The Babylonian tradition that the famous Simon work, for example, is based on is not "mythical" - it was actually used thousands of years ago. The whole "Arab legend" associated with it, however, is what many debate about.

I think that we must differ few things: - sumerian mythology and magick - Simons inspiration from ancient sumer and lovecraft - different versions of Necronomicon - Lovecraftian Cthulhu mythos If we speak about cthulhu mythos and Necronomicon, founder is Lovecraft. But some eclectical system aka Simon - there are a lot of currents which influence this. |

RE: NECRONOMICON - Fact or Fantasy?
Whether or not Necronomicon as Simon presented is ancient in my humble opinion does not invalidate the fact that he got it right! He uses accurate translations of the Enuma Elish, and presents the correct Gods, their powers, lore, and correspondences necessary to tap into their powerful pantheon.

RE: NECRONOMICON - Fact or Fantasy?
i agree and the mardukite work certainly has taken the next step towards really understanding this at its highest potential. words do not even express how impressed i have been by the books and correspondence.
