Sumerian Babylonian Anunnaki and the Assyrian Semitic Hebrew Kabbalah
THE ANUNNAKI & THE KABBALAH
by Joshua Free (2008) Given the wide range of devotion found not only in the most ancient interpretations of the system, but throughout the history of spiritual tradition, it can sometimes be difficult to plot a one-to-one comparison of the interpretations, such as many would prefer. For example, the position of Marduk as Jupiter in Babylonian and Akkadian (etc.) interpretations would define him as Jupiter, which is to also says Zeus, etc. However, as we have so clearly shown in our Gates of the Necronomicon (Liber 50) and the legacy behind the traditions we are more familiar with today, Marduk was actually “elevated” to this position, which was held by Enlil prior. This means that both Marduk and Enlil would both be representative of the same current by different interpretations and hence the mess that befalls those who quest for the hidden truth behind these mysteries. Such factors must certainly be taken into account and any form of comparison or correspondence should not be read out of context. Assyrian and Semitic lore derived from the Anunnaki system originating in Mesopotamia is mainly responsible for all of the systems that later developed on the planet – as we have put forth throughout the Mardukite Necronomicon Cycle. It is, however, not generally a part of most contemporary mind sets concerning these systems, which have gone on to define them in ways other than the original. For one, the concept of “angels” is very prominent in both the Semitic streams and the “high ceremonial magick” that developed from them, including the “Enochian” mysticism and “Abramelin” forms that has been so regularly compared to the “magick” of the Necronomicon. Although the concept of the “Anunnaki aliens” became too obscure for the rising civilizations that came afterward to behold – the general theme that became central to all spiritual traditions is: there is an all-powerful Divine Source outside of this time-space that does not make a visible, beholdable, tangible appearance in this world as we might want to personify, but there are these “intermediaries” or “angel” spirits and demons that seem to be somewhere between our understanding of existence and this encompassing non-fragmented complete and whole realization of the “All-as- One.” Before being abolished by the Church, the original “Gnostic” schools of Christianity were very intent on preserving the integrity of the lore concerning these beings. But the message was too closely identifiable with the ancient currents and too empowering to allow people free access to within the congregations. The mystery of the Kabbalah, even in the Jewish sects, have become closely guarded as well as time drew on. While many “New Agers” find it hard to work with such forces any longer because of their identification with a system they are rejecting – and stereotypical right wing folk fail to seek the ancient sources of their own beliefs – it is intriguing that those who launched such pursuits in the late 1800′s and early 1900′s were able to do so for the very reason that they did not have such “black-and-white” perceptions of the Great Mystery – even if they, themselves, fell somewhat short of their own final Ascension – the quest is only taken up by the true visionaries among us, those who are there to show the rest a way to see the world that they had not been aware of already – and if it be a more clearly defined selfhonest awareness, then all the better. In our popular conceptualization of the Kabbalah, so concisely set down in the original Arcanum materials, our confusion might begin with the first “sephiroth” or station: Kether. In our example, we have “Enlil” in this position, with “Enki” in the second position of Chokmah. This is done because of the planetary associations with the next seven stations, which were then linked to the “younger generation” of Elder Gods (e.g. the “ladder of lights”) with Anu, Tiamat and Abzu being primordial forces outside of this system (the three “AINS”?). Others will prefer to reinterpret the mystery with the divine “Supernal Trinity” at the top three positions: Anu, Enlil and Enki – Kether, Chokmah and Binah – but with Binah also related to Saturn (Ninurta), this becomes “sticky.” ![]() 1.
