What is the actual question, though?

Oh. I was wondering if Nanna-Sin had a myth-lore background as well to if the name was just included in saying, "Oh in spirit (God/dess' name)" of some greater, more important event or place. Was Nanna-Sin a large figure in Babylonian times?

Quote:To the ancients, the moon was the “sun at night.”
It illuminated the path for travelers and kept
watch as the people slept. Just as the sun was
invoked to grant judgments of the daytime, the
moon was given the domain over the dreams of
men. Being the first spiritual threshold (Gate)
between earth and heaven, the moon is significantly
linked to the astral plane. The priestesses
(and later witches) of Ishtar (Inanna) revered the
moon, called Nanna by Sumerians or Sin to the
Babylonians, as their sky-father and/or spiritualmate.
Ishtar literally was the “daughter of the
moon” and a twin to the sun (Samas). Her
followers often also took this title.

~ from Book of Marduk by Nabu
(also as le Livre de Marduk par Nabu)

Quote:The lunar current is the one most easily accessed because
it is most closely aligned to the astral and dreams,
that elementary aspect of mystical work whereby a
seeker is able to actually conceive of the very idea that
they are not only their physical body. This realization
alone is not taken for granted, since many do not
achieve this, but in contemporary new age traditions,
many initiates simply stop here, remaining enamored
with the infinite potentiality that can be manifested
through by the dissolution of the first veil...

Nanna-Sin and Ningal appear in their “shade-forms” as
the archetypal “fairy” king and queen, born of heaven,
ruling on earth and embodied in the lunar barrier bet-
ween the two. Most mystics have seen them in their
more elderly form, but the blue-hued moonlight radiating
from their skin gives off so much beauty that we can
hardly think of them as aging. The color traditionally
associated with the moon is silver and the essence and
symbol attributed to Nanna is the wand or scepter of
lapis lazuli. When the moon was not visible, it was
thought to be dwelling in the underworld and when a
lunar eclipse occurred, the moon was thought to be
battling wicked demons. This more active face of the
lunar current is not often tapped by most “magickal”
tables of correspondence.

Must be true if throughout the centuries they've been able to pass down the traditional representing icon.

'Traditional representing icon' means a correspondence reached through a symbol of select choice. For example, the Moon being most fondly thought to be linked to be the reason for Dreams or the luster of the Metal Silver poetically described as the Light of the Moon has been recorded throughout many Lores & Grimores. Once it had been recorded somewhere in History, no one (at least that I know) has disagreed & in matter of fact, instead this has been widely accepted.
